This blog is the online home of Jay Hathaway. It is three years old, and it is still figuring out what it wants to be when it grows up.
Jay is a Seattle-based writer currently doing pop culture interviews at suicidegirls.com, blogging about software at Download Squad, and covering funny Internet memes at Urlesque.
A handful of his interviews with authors and comics creators have appeared in the pages of Geek Monthly. He co-wrote a blog about flirting (now on hiatus) with Melissa Gira Grant. He’s also thoroughly flattered to have been allowed to contribute to NYMag.com, The Rumpus, The Morning News and Coudal Partners’ Field Tested Books (twice).
Jay is on Twitter, going by @strutting. Gawker once called him one of “Twelve People Actually Worth Following on Twitter.” His so-called humor appears in Twitter Wit, a collection of Twitter postings published by HarperCollins. He also played a small part in a comedy video called Twitter: The Criterion Collection, which became inexplicably popular and was linked by the nice people at Entertainment Weekly, boingboing and Laughing Squid.
Jay hates the sound of his own voice, but nonetheless enjoys giving talks on various topics, at conferences like Barcamp Seattle. If you think he might have something to talk to your group about, let him know.
When it strikes him, Jay designs things.
If you have to ask what a fysigunkus is, you probably aren’t one.
